FWC Looks You Can Do!

Sophie Hart sourced all eleven male and female 'outfits' for the campaign using garments found in Salvos Stores throughout Sydney, proving that not only are Salvos Stores an economic alternative allowing you to save money and recycle / reuse clothing (as Salvos Stores are the largest recyclers in the Southern Hemisphere) but that you can find that special something for an individual look and an ENTIRE outfit. Looking stylish on a shoestring has never been easier!

Sophie's tips to get the best out of Shopping at a Salvos Store:

Sophie's Fashion With a Conscience Tips

→ When shopping for vintage to save time always scan the racks for colour and pattern.

→ Look for modern prints, workable colours and classic styles.

→ Go in with an idea of what you want so you are not overwhelmed by the amount of choice.

→ Go in on a regular basis as the turnover is frequent, “You'll never never know if you never never go”.

→ Don't be afraid to tailor or reshape something, a vintage print in a boxy dress can be a cute mini with just a few snips and tucks.

→ When you go shopping, wear a belt with your outfit so when you try things on you can use it to reshape dresses.

→ Shoulder pads can and should be removed.

→ Re sole shoes! Clean shoes!, spray shoes with Glen 20! Wear shoes!

→ All the stars are doing it why aren't you? Op Shops are the best places to get jewellery at an affordable price, who knows what treasure you may find.

→ A vintage scarf is really fashionable at the moment, to wear around your neck, head, a bag, or a dress!

→ With the 80s back, a high waisted belt is a good vintage find, Look out for patents in Red and Blacks and also Metallics

→ Look out for Vintage leather pieces, leather embossed handbags with special details like brass clasps, plaited woven belts.

→ If out of the city and in a small country town - Op Shops are best here! They are less raided. My favourite finds have been from Op Shops out of the city.

→ Surprise your friends with one of a kind pieces - step outside the box, wear something you know no one has. There's nothing better when your out than being complimented on something your wearing, and there is nothing worse than wearing what somebody else has on. So Op Shops are great for one offs

→ If you've got small feet, then lucky you! Op Shops are the best places for small size shoes.

→ Rock Singlets Oversized Tees.

→ 2 words - Glo Mesh

→ Old pairs of jeans give them a modern twist by turning them into cut offs. The denim is in that great weathered condition, that it takes you years to get normally.

→ Flannel shirts - are a great grunge look for the boys. OR if your not into that wear them camping, chopping wood, and driving trucks.
